Goodyear is offering you the chance to receive a limited edition 2017 Goodyear Truck calendar as it enters a 13th season in the championship.
Racing, Entertainment & Industry
One of the big highlights of the FIA European Truck Racing season is the festival of action on and off the track where 120,000 people descended on the famous Eifel track last season.
The Nürburgring has a history dating back to the 1930s and has hosted Truck racing for four decades. The circuit is a natural meeting point for the truck racing industry and a focal point for like-minded enthusiasts.
2016 saw much to cheer for the home crowd on the track as local hero Jochen Hahn took the first victory of the weekend. Steffi Halm then scored the most memorable victory of her career in race two to send the huge crowd in to ecstacy. Adam Lacko had a perfect Sunday when he completed a conclusive double but only after a controversial collision with Rene Reinert! It was that man again – Norbert Kiss who celebrated the most with two wins, while veteran Antonio Albacete and Czech ace Adam Lacko helped themselves to a win apiece.
Cab’s Eye View
Each race we will have an FIA ETRC driver to give us a unique insight into their view of the circuits on the FIA ETRC calendar – what is the track like to drive? What are their favourite sections? Even the best restaurants and places to visit in the area!
Who better than Triple Champion and local hero, Jochen Hahn of the Hahn Racing Team to tell us about the historic Nürburring, the venue for Round Three of the FIA ETRC.
“Nürburgring is the most fascinating and historic track of the year in our calendar.
For a driver, it is also one of the most exciting, as we go from the first corner and directly in to the Mercedes Benz Arena, where in these curves there are three ways to try an overtaking manoeuvre which is not the case so much at some of the other circuits we go to. This makes truck racing at this track very exciting for the drives and the spectators – and we have had rather an exciting year already.
This is a real drivers’ circuit. We love the history, but it also suits our trucks very well and is good to race on.
The atmosphere for the drivers is fantastic and believe me when I say that the crowds are so loud that we can hear them, even through our helmets, and this enthusiasm is really inspiring.
We are really pleased that so many spectators attend this event and make it the best of the year in my opinion.
Anyway, I am really looking forward to driving here once again because, the atmosphere of the ‘green hell’ is unique, but for me it is my home race and I really want to take victory on the track and look forward to meeting the fans off the track as well.
A truck race weekend is a fantastic atmosphere and you get to see some very exciting motor racing, but in the end it is also a huge party for young and old, which you really have to try and experience.”
See you at the ‘Ring
