2017 FIA ETRC calendar revealed

2017 FIA ETRC calendar sees the world’s most competitive truck championship returning to some of Europe’s most famous and challenging circuits.

Even as the closest title fight in many years in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship (FIA ETRC) was being fought on track the promoters and organisers the European Truck Racing Association (ETRA) Promotion GmbH were working hard to lock in the 2017 calendar.

Today ETRA Promotion GmbH announces the 2017 calendar which has been confirmed by the FIA at the World Motorsport Council meeting in Austria this afternoon. The calendar will ensure stability for the championship with a return to the majority of venues from previous years as well as an exciting new venue as the FIA ETRC is set to head to Slovakia in July.

Nine dates are planned for ETRA Promotion GmbH’s second season as the championship promoter and 2017 is set to be a year in which ETRA Promotion GmbH will consolidate and enhance the championship through commercial opportunities and further media exposure. Continuing to offer fans, partners and manufacturers the unique combination of on track high octane racing, off track great value entertainment for all ages and unique networking and selling opportunities for the truck and related company industry.

The acknowledged jewel in the crown – the ADAC Truck Grand Prix at Nürburgring has been confirmed for the first weekend of July. In 2016, 123,000 people attended the event. With yet more off track entertainment expected for 2017, the centre point of the championship calendar will again be a guaranteed highlight.

The season will start at Red Bull Ring in May, then continue to the popular Misano circuit before reconvening in July with the Nürburgring and Slovakaring events. The Slovakiaring has a solid history of hosting FIA Championships in a variety of categories.

The championship year will end with its usual flourish as five events take place in seven weeks from August to October. Just like in 2016, Hungaroring and Most will take place back-to-back, while Zolder, Le Mans and Jarama will host the tense final rounds.

Speaking about the calendar, the promoters and organisers of the FIA ETRC – ETRA Promotion GmbH Director, Rolf Werner said: “Next years FIA ETRC calendar has been approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council. It is the result of a clear thinking and progressive strategy to ensure stability and consistency in order to build successful events.

“From this stable basis we are confident that after a successfully meeting our targets in 2016 we will continue to attract new followers, teams and sponsors to the series and secure further media interest through 2017 and beyond. Next year will be significant season for the FIA ETRC.” concluded Werner.
